228720 Hypertherm torch cap sensor switch, for Duramax, Duramax Hyamp and MRT mechanised cutting torches for mechanised cutting applications. 

supplied with quick fit plug to connect to the cap sensor leads. 

We would advise changing the mounting sleeve when stripping down the torch head as mounting sleeves become brittle with continued exposure to the plasma cutting arc. 

for powermax 125 the torch mounting sleeve is part number 428145

for powermax 65, 85 and 105 the torch mounting sleeve part number is 228735 

To change the torch cap sensor switch follow the following procedure. 

  1. Remove the torch from its holder and disconnect it from the power source. 
  2. Undo the strain relief nut and strain relief from the Torch body sleeve. 
  3. Unscrew the small grey coupler and/or positioning sleeve from the mounting sleeve. 
  4. Using a #1 philips screwdriver, remover the 3 screws that hold the mounting sleeve to the main torch body. These can be found at the consumables end, 
  5. remove the mounting sleeve. 
  6. disconnect the quick fit connector leads from the micro switch. 
  7. Using a #1 Philips screwdriver remove the mounting screw that holds the micro switch in place, remove and discard. 

Refitting the cap sensor switch 

  1. Using a #1 Philips screwdriver tighten the micro switch mounting screw to the torch main body. 
  2. Connect the quick fit wire plug to the micro switch 
  3. Slide the mounting sleeve over the front of the torch body, aligning the slot in the mounting sleeve with the cap sensor plunger
  4. . Tighten the three mounting sleeve screws to 11.52 kg cm (10 in-lbs) using a #1 Phillips screwdriver.
  5. Refit the coupler and positioning sleeve to the mounting sleeve to hand tight.
  6. Refit the strain relief to the grey torch sleeve. 
  7. Refit to power source and torch holder.
